Terms of use

These are the terms for the smart.router app and the service behind it. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If something here is unclear, ask us before you agree to it.

Who this agreement is with

smart.router is operated by Personal Network Computing, Inc. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that company, and "you" mean the person or organisation using the app and the service.

By installing the app or signing in, you agree to these terms. If you are agreeing on behalf of a business, you are confirming you are allowed to.

What the service is

smart.router manages an internet router on your premises. It watches every internet connection into the building, moves your traffic to a working connection when one fails, moves it back when it recovers, measures each connection, lists the devices on your network, and lets you reach your own network from elsewhere through a private connection. What it does depends on which packages are switched on for your router.

The router has to be enrolled by us before the app shows anything. An account with no enrolled router is an empty app, which is not a fault.

What we do not promise

Your side of it

Your data

What the router sends us, who can see it, how long we keep it and what we will never do with it are all in the privacy page, which is part of this agreement. The short version: we collect what the product needs to do its job, we do not sell it, and we do not read the contents of your traffic.

Beta software

While the app is in beta, it is offered for testing. It will have faults, screens will change, and a beta build stops working when its test period ends. Tell us what you find; that is what the beta is for. Do not depend on a beta build for something that matters until it has stopped being one.

Ending it

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to remove your account and your router's history. We can end or suspend the service for an account that is being used against these terms, or if we stop offering the service at all, and we will tell you if we do.

Your router keeps working as a router if the service ends. What stops is the app, the alerts, the measurements and our management of it. Ask us and we will tell you exactly what we put on your router and how to take it off.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost business, lost revenue, lost data or any indirect loss arising from the service or from an internet connection failing. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may change these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page always says when it last changed.

Law, and how to reach us

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and the courts there deal with any dispute about them.
